Drama 255B: Scenic Design

Course Objective: Starting Fall 2024 quarter with a 10 week grad level course that focuses on both set and projection design. Students were challenged to design two distinct genres of plays one after the other: magical realism and historical. This gives the student the opportunity to learn about the different research process that goes into designing within both genres. The goal is for students to grow comfortable with projection design which coincides with the scenery. Learning to use the space we create to project a design that adds onto the story. Going above and beyond simply projecting time, weather, and location. Growing familiar with using projection design as a window to a character’s most inner thoughts.
